State Department continues to pursue diplomatic solutions for Israel
U.S. Special Envoy Amos Hochstein said that he had a “constructive” meeting with Nabih Berri, the speaker of Lebanon’s parliament, where they discussed “a new course of strength, security, stability, and ultimately, economic prosperity” between Israel and Lebanon.
“The people of Lebanon, like everyone in the region, just want to go home, build a peaceful, secure, and safe prosperous future for themselves and their families,” Envoy Hochstein said.
The special envoy said he would speak with other Lebanese leaders to try to end the ongoing conflict between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah. Fighting has been fierce along the Israel-Lebanon border. The United Nations first organized a ceasefire between the two parties in 2006. Officials hope that a new resolution can be reached that won’t reinstigate a similar conflict in the near future.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Special Envoy Hochstein as he seeks a peaceful resolution to the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
- For the people of Israel and Lebanon as they are displaced by conflict with Hezbollah.
- For wisdom for the president and U.S. officials as they seek ceasefires between Israel and its adversaries.
