Issue 670 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

The White House announced a proposal – filed by the Departments of the Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services – to provide over-the-counter contraception at no cost to women under the Affordable Care Act. Gender Policy Council Director Jennifer Klein said, “For the first time ever, women would be able to obtain over-the-counter contraception without a prescription at no additional cost, and health plans would have to cover even more prescribed contraceptives without cost sharing.”

Pray for administration officials who are pursuing goals that decrease American birth rates.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

House Speaker Mike Johnson stated that the U.S. is investigating the leak of two classified documents to the social media platform Telegram. Both documents outlined strategies for an Israeli strike against Iran. The Federal Bureau of Investigation later announced the opening of a probe by the agency.

Pray for U.S. legislators as they seek to ensure the security of the nation’s classified information.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

A Senate Homeland Security Committee subcommittee is investigating some large Medicare Advantage insurers regarding the prior authorization or denials for certain types of care. The legislators have requested information from UnitedHealthcare, Humana, and CVS about the practice of “intentionally using prior authorization to boost profits by targeting costly yet critical stays in post-acute care facilities.”

Pray that committee and subcommittee chairs and members are discerning in their investigations.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

The Supreme Court has agreed to take up the question of whether cases involving regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency can only be heard in the D.C. Circuit. The EPA has overruled some states’ plans to implement national air quality standards and attempted to impose its interpretation of “good neighbor” standards under the Clean Air Act.

Pray for the Supreme Court justices to be discerning in their deliberations and opinions.
