President Biden Surveys Damage from Hurricane Milton

He says, “This area is taking a real beating from back-to-back storms.”

President Joe Biden toured the western coast of Florida in Marine One on Sunday, surveying the damages from Hurricane Milton from Tampa to St. Petersburg.

Seventeen people have been confirmed dead after dozens of tornadoes spawned by Milton tore through the region. There were 150 tornado warnings issued and reportedly 26 touchdowns.

Debris is piled along residential streets as people seek to recover. In the aftermath of several feet of storm surge, some coastal residents found up to 3 or 4 feet of sand in their homes. Flooding is not yet over, as the National Weather Service predicted the Tampa Bay area will continue to experience rising river waters.

President Biden said, “This area is taking a real beating from back-to-back storms.” He commended the resilience of Floridians and the way they are helping each other recover. He also pledged $612 million in additional aid to victims of both hurricanes.

Electricity has been restored to more than 2 million, while more than 370,000 are still without power.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for the president, vice president, and administration advisors as they assess the damages from the storms and the relief needed to recover.
  • For state and local officials as they coordinate recovery efforts and evaluate the amount of assistance they need.
