USDA Offers Energy Efficient Expansions to Rural Small Business Owners

$104 million in grants will support 300 projects in 34 states.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that 300 rural clean energy projects will receive $104 million in loans and grants through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). This program will offer small businesses in 34 states the resources necessary to purchase energy-efficient appliances and facility expansions. Some of the projects approved for this funding include an engine replacement for an anaerobic digester, a new walk-in cooler for a meat processing facility, and air-source heat pumps for a cabin retreat center.

“As drivers of our economy, farmers and rural business owners deserve affordable energy,” Deputy Secretary Torres Small said. “That’s why, as part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America Agenda, I’m proud to announce an additional $104 million in REAP loans and grants that will lower energy costs for farmers and small business and help them expand their operations, all while tackling climate change.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Deputy Secretary Torres Small as she acts as chief operating officer for the USDA.
  • For discernment for Secretary Vilsack as he oversees the many agencies and programs of the USDA.
