Brigadier General Christopher Amrhein, USAF
Commander, Air Force Recruiting Service
Christopher R. Amrhein is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and was commissioned into the Air Force through ROTC. He also received a master’s from Air University in Alabama and a master’s from National Defense University in Norfolk. He also utilized other military academic opportunities.
He has served in operational and training assignments, commanding at the squadron and wing levels. He served in five geographic combatant command regions including contingency operations Allied Force, Joint Guardian, Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, Juniper Micron, Freedom Sentinel and Resolute Support.
Brigadier General Amrhein served in staff assignments in the Air Force headquarters and the major command levels. He service as the Nineteenth Air Force Vice Commander prior to becoming Commander, Air Force Recruiting Service.
He has logged over 3,200 flight hours.

Brigadier General Christopher Amrhein, Commander of the Air Force Recruiting Service, announced the service’s increased recruitment goal by 16 percent for 2025 after missing its numbers in 2023, the first time that has occurred since 1999. The Air Force’s targets are on track for the 2024 fiscal year.
General Amrhein said, “It’s ambitious, but I believe it is executable.”
He continued, “We’re not out of the woods yet, and the environment is still going to be tough in 2025. The number one question I get asked is, ‘What was the one thing that changed for this year?’ And my answer is, ‘There wasn’t one thing. It was multiple levers being pulled or done in unison to give the recruiting force the abilities to be able to get out there and find the talent and bring it in.”
The service has used incentives, such as the Enlisted College Loan Repayment Program, and adjusted internal requirements, including revised tattoo policies, modifying the body composition program, and changing its drug testing requirements.
