Their first and only debate will take place in New York.
Former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, will debate Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, tonight at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City. The 90-minute debate will have two moderators and no in-person audience.
Governor Walz was originally from Nebraska. He moved to Minnesota and served in the Army National Guard for 24 years during his career as a high school teacher and football coach. He served for twelve years in the House of Representatives before becoming governor of his state.
Senator Vance served in the U.S. Marine Corps and then worked as a venture capitalist in San Francisco before returning to his native Ohio. He was elected to the Senate two years ago.
Senator Vance won a coin toss and opted to give a five-minute closing statement.

- For the vice presidential candidates to accurately describe their platforms and policies.
- For wisdom and insight for American voters as they cast ballots, either via mail or in person in November.
