Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Brian Nichols is in Belize and Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose Fernandez is in Spain.
State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said, “Assistant Secretary Nichols will meet with Prime Minister John Briceño, Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca, and other senior government officials to discuss security and inclusive economic prosperity in Belize and throughout the region.“
He also announced, “Under Secretary Fernandez will discuss key regional economic opportunities, including in Latin America and the Caribbean, and fostering inclusive growth and competitiveness through the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity“ with the Office of the Presidency, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Ecological Transition, and private sector representatives, including leading Spanish green energy companies.
