Secretary Blinken Attends Middle East Discussions in Paris

He advocates for Israel-Hamas ceasefire as Israel-Lebanon tensions increase

Secretary of State Antony Blinken traveled to Paris on Thursday to attend diplomatic meetings with his counterparts from Britain, France, Germany, and Italy. These countries have grown mutually concerned with escalating tensions in the Middle East, and hope to explore how to ease conflict between Israel and Lebanon and how best to facilitate the closure of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.

“There are, I think, in the agreement, 18 paragraphs, 15 of them are agreed. But the remaining issues need to be resolved,” Secretary Blinken said during a joint press conference in Cairo with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. Officials from the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar have been mediating the negotiations between the two parties, but months of talks have yet to manifest a deal that both of them can agree to.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for the secretary of state as he continues to advocate for the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
  • For administration officials as they respond to the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
