Congress Passes $3 Billion VA Supplemental Funding Bill

Concerns over the Friday deadline avoided by Senate and House approval.

President Joe Biden signed a supplemental funding bill for the Department of Veterans Affairs that was passed by the House and Senate before the Friday deadline. The VA was facing a delay in sending veterans benefit payments without congressional approval due to a fiscal year shortfall.

Under Secretary for Benefits Joshua Jacobs told the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee earlier this week, “Any funding shortfall of even $1 would prevent VA from processing its September pay file, and as a result, delay benefit payments.”

The Veterans Benefits Administration experienced the funding shortfall due to 300,000 more claims for benefits under 2022’s PACT Act than anticipated.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Under Secretary Jacobs as he oversees the Veterans Benefits Administration.
  • For Secretary McDonough as he heads the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • For members of Congress as they deliberate federal spending legislation.
