Wednesday, October 2

Today, President Joe Biden is going to North Carolina to survey the devastation resulting from Hurricane Helene. He will receive a briefing from Governor Roy Cooper and FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell.

President Biden also said he would request an emergency aid package from Congress to support recovery from the hurricane. Both chambers are currently on recess for the month.

While seven states are under emergency declarations, North Carolina has experienced the most flooding and loss of life thus far. Some western parts of the state are still underwater, with power and communications down. Supply chains and distribution hubs are challenging to set up, though aid is being airlifted to submerged areas.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Biden and House and Senate leaders as they discuss the need for additional funding for FEMA.
  • For the governors of the states impacted by the hurricane and for all the military and civilian crews working to rescue survivors and bring supplies to the people.
  • For the Lord’s comfort for all who have lost loved ones due to the massive storm.
