House Speaker Schedules Continuing Resolution Vote with SAVE Act

The measure would fund the government for six months and require proof of citizenship to register to vote.

After pulling the legislative vote last week due to weak support, Speaker Mike Johnson announced that the House would vote on Wednesday on a continuing resolution to keep the government funded for the next six months. The legislation will be coupled with the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would require documentation of U.S. citizenship to register to vote.

Speaker Johnson stated, “Congress has an immediate obligation to do two things: responsibly fund the federal government, and ensure the security of our elections.”

“Because we owe this to our constituents, we will move forward on Wednesday with a vote on the 6-month CR with the SAVE Act attached,” the House speaker continued. “I urge all of my colleagues to do what the overwhelming majority of the people of this county rightfully demand and deserve – prevent non-American citizens from voting in American elections.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Speaker Johnson and members of the House as they vote on the funding and election integrity legislation.
  • For members of the Senate as they consider funding proposals and continuing resolutions.
