Migratory Bird Conservation Commission approves the grant distribution.
The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced this month that $46 million will be distributed to conserve and restore over 90,000 acres of wetland in 17 states. These are habitats for hundreds of unique species of waterfowl and migratory birds. The funding was approved by the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission and distributed through the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund, the only federal grant program dedicated to conserving these valuable ecosystems.
“Across the country, migratory birds and their habitat are at risk due to drought, warmer temperatures and rising seas,” said Director of the Fish and Wildlife Service Martha Williams. “Projects supported through these grants help bolster wetland biodiversity and increase habitat for billions of migrating birds while expanding outdoor recreation opportunities for surrounding communities.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Director Williams to receive God’s guidance as she heads the Fish and Wildlife Service.
- For discernment for Secretary Haaland and Interior officials as they assess and review applications for grant funding.
