Interior Announces Funding for Small Water Storage Projects

Funds above-ground storage tanks less than 30,000 acre-feet.

The Department of the Interior announced that $43 million is available for small water storage projects, offering infrastructure funding for water storage tanks between 200 and 30,000 acre-feet. The average American household uses between one-half to one acre-foot of water per year, making these small storage tanks essential for rural water reclamation and conservation.

“Water is essential to everything we do: feeding families, growing crops, powering agricultural businesses, sustaining wildlife, and safeguarding Tribal subsistence practices,” said Secretary Deb Haaland. “Through President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, we are working to equip local communities with the infrastructure and resources they need to meet water supply demands and build climate resilience for the future.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Haaland and Interior Department officials to seek the Lord as they support small water storage projects.
  • For Commissioner Camille Calimlim Touton to be discerning as she heads the Bureau of Reclamation.
