Issue 664 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

The United States has signed onto the first legally binding international artificial intelligence (AI) treaty, alongside the United Kingdom and the European Union. Seven other nations also signed onto the Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights, Democracy, and the Rule of Law at the AI Convention in Lithuania. The law was negotiated after discussions by 57 countries and is intended to curb AI risks.

Pray for U.S. governing officials to be prudent in their agreements with international partners regarding technology and AI.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Congresswoman Virginia Foxx of North Carolina, chair of the Education and the Workforce Committee, has issued subpoenas to Governor Tim Walz’s administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and its Office of Inspector General regarding pandemic fraud in Minnesota’s nonprofit Feeding Our Future program. Five individuals have already been brought up on charges that include federal programs bribery, wire fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering, and dozens await trial.

Pray for members of Congress as they investigate fraud in federal and state programs.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

As Congress returns from the August recess, Senate committees are holding hearings to review outstanding nominations for federal positions in the Defense, State, Transportation, and Justice Departments.

Pray for congressional committee chairs and members as they vet nominees for confirmation to federal roles.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

A federal district judge in the Northern District of California has ordered the Oakland Police Department to reorganize. The judge ruled that the internal affairs division must report directly to the chief of police so that the department head can no longer claim ignorance of details surrounding incidents or cases of officer misconduct.

Pray for district judges to be discerning as they issue decisions regarding law enforcement and officer misconduct.
