All new data to be sent directly to the Department of Health and Human Services
In an effort to better understand the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic and to streamline the response to the outbreak, on Wednesday, the administration is now having hospitals around the nation send their data about COVID-19 directly to the Department of Health and Human Services. HHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Michael Caputo said of the policy change, “The CDC’s old data gathering operation once worked well monitoring hospital information across the country, but it’s an inadequate system today. The President’s Coronavirus Task Force has urged improvements for months, but they just cannot keep up with this pandemic.”
Data being sent to the CDC, and now the Department of Health and Human Services, includes information on the number of available beds and ventilators, as well as the total number of patients the hospitals were treated for the disease. With the new change, administration officials hope to be able to respond more quickly to the nation’s needs as they send out protective equipment to areas more heavily affected by the disease.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That God would direct the President to end this pandemic.
- For God to lead the CDC in the best way to stop the spread of COVID-19
- For The Department of Health and Human Services to provide the needed help to those affected by the disease.
