The Re-Maker

Everyone wants to remake America again… again.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

It seems that with each new collection of politicians, you hear them speak of “making” America or “re-making” America.  In his Inaugural, President Obama said, “Starting today, we must pick ourselves  up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.” Unless you have been under a rock somewhere, you’ve heard “Make America Great Again” from President Trump across the last three and a half years. Former Vice President and presidential candidate Joe Biden said, “It’s not sufficient to build back, we have to build back better.” Re-makers, all.

Most assuredly, surface things can be remade and government has the power to do that. But what America needs right now are people with re-made hearts. Power for that belongs to God alone.

Becoming a new creation in Christ requires the acknowledgment that God is Who He says He is, that sin separates the people He loves from Him, that Jesus was provided as a way of a person’s return to his Creator, and that repenting of that sin and accepting the atonement of Jesus Christ  brings a person into a right relationship with God, and that equals being a new creation in Him.

Put your trust in the only real re-maker today as you pray for the nation.

Pray With Us

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me, for loving this world full of people who have tried so hard to remake themselves their way. You alone can do that; and You, Father, are the only One who can truly remake America into the “blessed nation whose God is the Lord.”  I intercede today for the hearts of my fellow Americans to be softened, and that their ears be tuned to hear Your claims on their lives. I pray that as a nation, we would repent of our sins and turn from our wicked ways, so that You might heal and remake this land. In Jesus Name,

Amen.
