Transportation Secretary Breaks Ground for Las Vegas Bus Transit

His “Summer of Construction” tour celebrates the department’s investments.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the $378 million Las Vegas rapid transit project this month. The event was one of the secretary’s “Summer of Construction” tour stops to highlight infrastructure projects funded by the Department of Transportation. Once completed, the city’s Maryland Parkway will be retrofitted to accommodate rapid transit bus routes, increasing access and connectivity along the busy Las Vegas corridor.

“This is an area that hasn’t had the investment that it deserves in transit, even though there’s about 9,000 riders a day,” Secretary Buttigieg said. “That’s going to be a benefit to millions, not just the people who use it, but anybody counting on I-15 who will face less congestion because of the people who are using it.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Buttigieg as he visits transportation project sites and supports the construction and maintenance of U.S. infrastructure.
  • For Transportation Department officials as they review and assess projects for federal funding and support.
