Major grants fund the national network for sustainable energy projects and climate solutions.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced the allocation of $27 billion in grants to recipients of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund to support clean energy and climate solutions nationwide. The grants, distributed through the $14 billion National Clean Investment Fund, the $6 billion Clean Communities Investment Accelerator, and the $7 billion Solar for All program, are meant to create a national network for financing clean energy projects. With these funds, communities can begin implementing programs to promote cleaner and more sustainable economies.
EPA Administrator Michael Regan said, “With climate impacts increasingly impacting all Americans, and especially those in communities that have been historically left behind, EPA knew it had to move swiftly and deliberately to get this historic funding out the door… American families will soon feel the benefits in the form of lower energy costs and revitalized communities.”
This $27 billion investment is the largest climate-focused funding effort in the U.S. thus far. Since the bill’s inception in August 2022, the EPA has committed over $28.8 billion to climate initiatives.
