TSA Increasing Passenger Protections

Taking action to help prevent coronavirus transmission.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced Wednesday that it is implementing a number of new measures to better protect employees and passengers amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Officers must now either clean their gloves or change them between each interaction with passengers to help curb cross-contamination. Additionally, TSA is putting up individual screens to divide the different areas where passengers and TSA officers must interact but are unable to social distance.

As of last week, over 1,000 TSA agents have tested positive for COVID-19, and 90 percent of the positive cases come from TSA employees who screen passengers in person at airports.

Other safety measures went into effect the night before July 4.

A spokesperson for TSA said, “We take the responsibility to protect both passengers and our employees from COVID-19 very seriously.  Internally, we are consistently communicating about our COVID-19 mitigation efforts to help contain community spread of the COVID-19 virus.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For agents and employees of the Transportation Security Administration and efforts they are taking to keep both themselves and passengers safe and well.
  • For anyone who feels the least bit ill to avoid air travel.
