Today, Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) San Juan Field Office is holding a virtual seminar for importers and business owners of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands regarding enforcement against merchandise produced through forced labor.
“Importers and the business community… must be vigilant in their supply chains as CBP’s stringent forced labor enforcement continues to evolve,” stated San Juan Field Operations Director Roberto Vaquero. “Compliance isn’t just a legal requirement—it’s a moral imperative that safeguards human rights.”
The Tariff Act of 1930 prohibits the importation into the U.S. of merchandise mined, produced, or manufactured, wholly or in part, in any foreign country by forced or indentured labor – including forced child labor.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Acting Commissioner Troy Miller to receive God’s direction as he heads the CBP.
- For CBP agents and officers as they seek to prevent goods produced through forced labor from entering the U.S. market.
- For the president, vice president, and members of the Cabinet to turn to the Lord for wisdom in their decisions and actions.
