Connecticut Joins IRS Direct File Program for 2025

Secretary Yellen talks about the successful pilot of the program this year.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced Friday that Connecticut has opted into its Direct File service for the 2025 tax filing season.

The IRS piloted its new, free-to-use online tax filing service in 12 states in 2024, receiving enough positive feedback from users to officially launch the program this year. Four other states have already joined the Direct File program since its launch, including Oregon, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New Mexico.

“Direct File will save Connecticut residents time and money and help ensure they receive the tax benefits they are owed,” said Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen. “After a successful pilot this Filing Season, we are pleased to expand the program as a permanent offering and welcome Connecticut as the latest new state to offer this free option to taxpayers.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Yellen to receive God’s guidance as she heads the Treasury Department.
  • For Commissioner Danny Werfel and IRS officials as they implement the federal Direct File program.
