The Israeli prime minister has requested a “fast track” of the weapons.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has called on President Joe Biden to send delayed weapons to Israel after a rocket attack struck a U.S. airbase in Iraq, injuring several service members.
“We know the current Iranian aggression, backed by Chinese and Russian interests, comes after a months-long pressure campaign against Israel from the Biden-Harris Administration,” Speaker Johnson said. “Now is the time for the White House to realize their choices have brought us to the brink of disaster and give full-throated support to Israel.”
President Biden’s administration paused the shipment of heavy bombs to Israel earlier this year, concerned that Israeli attacks caused Gaza civilian casualties. The State Department and the Defense Department have said that those deliveries were resumed last month.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed the president’s administration only sent a “trickle” of munitions to Israel, advocating for a “fast-track” of weapons.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For discernment for House Speaker Johnson as he addresses foreign policy and military aid.
- For the president, vice president, and their military advisors as they consider requests to resume the paused aid.
- For the peace of Jerusalem and the safety of the people in Israel.
