Issue 659 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

Five U.S. military personnel and two defense contractors were injured when two rockets were fired at al Asad airbase in Iraq, after Iran held the U.S. partly responsible for the assassination of Hamas’ Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

Pray for the safety of U.S. troops and personnel around the globe as tensions and conflicts increase.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

Ukraine attacked Russia’s Kursk border region this week. This is reportedly the largest attack on Russian territory thus far in the two-year-old war. Both sides have been destroying attack drones sent into enemy territory.

Pray for U.S. and allied leaders as they evaluate the landscape of the war and the aid requests from Ukraine.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

The Pentagon announced additional fighter jets and Navy warships are being deployed to the Middle East. General Kurilla, head of the U.S. Central Command, has been discussing allied coordination with Middle Eastern officials in case Iran attacks Israel.

Pray for discernment for Defense Secretary Austin and General Kurilla as they seek to ensure strong defensive partnerships for Israel.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

A survey released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that over eight percent of Americans did not have health insurance coverage in the early months of 2024. The agency reported that this ends the trend for record-low uninsured rates since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pray for CDC officials to be prudent as they review and assess public health trends and risks.

Pray for Needs Across the States

The California Energy Commission has proposed expanding regulations on private oil refineries, establishing state-owned refineries, and increasing oil imports to address the potential for a rise in fuel prices.

Legislators in Massachusetts have passed a bill that would change the legal recognition of parents on birth certificates from biological or adoptive “father” and “mother” to “legal parentage equality” and “person who gave birth.” The bill, which will be sent to Governor Healey’s desk after it is finalized, also permits commercial surrogacy.

Pray for state officials to wisely consider the resources and individual protections of the residents of their states.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

We live in a world today that is very skeptical. … We should not be shocked by the skepticism that we see because we live in a world that has literally, I mean, zero trust. There is no trust amongst people in this world. We live in a world where there’s nothing but a lot of lying going on, right? And in every way that you can possibly imagine. … On so many levels and in so many different ways, the things that surround us cause us to continue to have that mindset that says “We don’t trust anybody or anything.“ Especially when you start examining the political landscape and all the other things that are happening. … I don’t blame people for questioning things.[Since] we live in a world that really truly is not trustworthy, we have learned to conflate the inconsistency of man’s word, we have learned to conflate the statements of man’s word, with the truth and the statements of God’s word. We think, somehow, someway, when God speaks He’s not going to come through because the people that represent what He says happen to not come through or happen to be inconsistent. We now all of a sudden believe that God Himself will be inconsistent. … The reality of it is that God’s word is true, and no matter what anybody thinks, just because He delays or what we think is a delay, it does not mean it isn’t going to happen.– James Kaddis, Light on the Hill, August 2024
