President Joe Biden responded to the jobs report released by the Labor Department. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 114,000 jobs were added to the economy in July and the unemployment rate rose to 4.3 percent. June’s employment numbers were also adjusted down to 179,000.
The president said, “ Today’s report shows employment is growing more gradually at a time when inflation has declined significantly.“
He referenced how the U.S. has seen strong business investment and the nation has made economic progress. But he stated, “Prices are still too high. We will keep fighting to lower costs by taking on price gouging, capping prescription drug costs, and building more homes.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Acting Secretary Su to receive God’s direction as she oversees the Labor Department.
- For Commissioner Erika McEntarfer as she heads the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- For discernment for the president, vice president, and U.S. economic officials as they assess the state of the nation’s economy and employment.
