Issue 658 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

The Federal Trade Commission, chaired by Lina Khan, has requested information from financial companies regarding pricing for their surveillance services that are powered by artificial intelligence. The agency is concerned with how these costs are impacting charges to consumers.

Pray for the chairs and members of federal commissions as they seek to provide consumer protections from overcharging by private companies.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Representative Jim Banks of Indiana called out the president’s administration for not submitting a report on Iran’s human rights abuses as mandated under the MAHSA Act. Congressman Banks, who co-authored the bill, said, “I am calling on the White House to comply with the law, enforce the MAHSA Act, and hold Iran accountable.“

Pray for senators and representatives as they strive to provide oversight of federal agencies and ensure the administration upholds federal laws passed by Congress.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

House Speaker Mike Johnson and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced the members who will sit on the task force to investigate the attempted assassination of former President Trump. Speaker Johnson said, “They’ll have three primary responsibilities: We have to get the answers, of course, about what happened. We need to make sure that accountability is ensured to the American people. And then we need to prevent anything like this from ever happening again.“

Pray for the chair and members of the task force as they investigate the attempted assassination of the former president.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

A three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals recently ruled that the state of Arizona can enforce a law that rejects state voter registration forms that do not contain proof of citizenship. The decision stayed an injunction that would require the state to register such applicants as federal-only voters.

Pray for federal judges to be discerning as they hear cases involving voting rights and proof of citizenship to register.
