Energy Department Launches Puerto Rico Solar Power Grant Program

$325 million is being allocated to improve local solar power infrastructure.

The Department of Energy announced its new Programa de Comunidades Resilientes (Community Resilience Program) and will accept applications for solar installation proposals in the territory of Puerto Rico. The department detailed Puerto Rico as home to a number of vulnerable populations, and solar and battery storage installations will support those communities with more permanent and dependable source of energy.

“The Biden-Harris Administration has proven its commitment to helping thousands of Puerto Rican households access affordable solar and battery storage, but households aren’t the only place you need power during and after an emergency,” said Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. “Through the Programa de Comunidades Resilientes, we’re expanding solar access to community healthcare facilities and subsidized multifamily housing, helping bring resilience and safety to even more families on the Island.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Granholm as she facilitates grant programs for America’s developing energy needs.
  • That officials in the Department of Energy implement this new program for Puerto Rico with discernment.
  • For members of the president’s administration as they collaborate on policies and services for the territories under U.S. jurisdiction.
