The White House announced that President Joe Biden was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Wednesday. The president, who was already in Nevada to speak at a Hispanic civil rights conference in Las Vegas and attend a campaign event, cancelled his agenda and returned to Delaware to isolate.
The president’s doctor stated on Wednesday, “The President presented this afternoon with upper respiratory symptoms. … He felt okay for his first event of the day, but given that he was not feeling better, point of care testing for COVID-19 was conducted, and the results were positive for the COVID-19 virus. Given this, the President will be self-isolating in accordance with CDC guidance for symptomatic individuals.“
President Biden said he was feeling good as he boarded Air Force One.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said President Biden “will continue to carry out all of his duties fully“ as he isolates in Delaware.
