First Presidential Debate Takes Place in Atlanta

President Biden and former President Trump will field questions Thursday night.

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are participating in the first presidential debate of this year’s election cycle. The 90-minute debate is being hosted by CNN at 9 PM EST in Atlanta, Georgia.

During the 2020 election cycle, the two men participated in two presidential debates, though three had been scheduled. One debate was canceled when then-President Trump contracted COVID-19 and declined to attend the debate remotely.

President Biden has been preparing for the debate with trusted aides at Camp David, the mountainside presidential retreat. This secluded complex of rustic lodges in Maryland has, in the past, helped focus the president and his team ahead of essential moments such as State of the Union speeches.

Former President Trump has been on the campaign trail while preparing with his aides and likely in many discussions with contenders for his as-of-yet unannounced VP position. Most recently he held a rally in Philadelphia.

The debate topics are expected to include border security, the economy, and inflation. Independent or other candidates that will appear on the ballot in November did not meet CNN’s qualifications for this debate.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Biden and President Trump as they prepare for the debate, as well as for their aides and staff.
  • For the Secret Service and first responders who are charged with protecting the candidates.
  • For the moderators to be impartial and direct questions that are important to the people of this country.
  • For Americans watching the debate to pray over it and be receptive to God revealing His will.
