Today, President Joe Biden is presenting the Medal of Honor posthumously in a ceremony at the White House.
George Davenport Wilson and Philip “Perry” Gephart Shadrach were Civil War soldiers and members of Andrews’ Raiders. The two soldiers were executed after their capture in a failed mission to destroy railways between Atlanta and Chattanooga.
Twenty-two soldiers from the Raiders’ were awarded the Medal of Honor over the following 20 years, but Wilson and Shadrach were not. Historian Brad Quinlan facilitated the posthumous honor of the two soldiers.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For leaders in the Armed Forces, the Pentagon, and the White House as they consider requests for posthumous honors.
- For Secretary Austin to be led by the Lord as he heads the Defense Department.
- For the president and his advisors to be prudent as they receive intelligence briefings and situation reports regarding events around the world.
