Day of Victory

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.       Psalm 118:24

It is easy to look at Psalm 118:24 and agree that each day is a day God has gifted to you. Many Bible commentaries have taken a deeper dive into “this is THE day,” encouraging you to consider the literal words from the Hebrew: “This is the day on which the Lord has acted.” Theologian John MacArthur writes that “the day,” “probably refers to 1) the day of deliverance and/or 2) the day the stone was made the chief cornerstone which they now celebrate.” The fourth-century church leader, Peter Chrysologus wrote, “After the long centuries of dreadful night, the eternal day, our Christ, shone forth. The world had long awaited the splendor of his dawning.”

Certainly, rejoice in the fact that God has given you a new day then let your soul delight in the great and gracious gift of the Savior and His salvation. The acceptance of the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ offers you joy that is essential to overcoming any challenging circumstance you may face. Theologian Warren Wiersbe said, “When you are having one of those difficult days—a day when the storm is blowing and the battle is raging, when the burdens are heavy, when your heart is broken and your tears are flowing, when it feels like everybody is turned against you—this is the time to heed this verse by faith.”

Rejoice and be glad today. Set your mind on things above, recognizing that another glorious day is in your future, when your Savior will return. Ask the Holy Spirit to renew your thinking and transform your mind to a clear understanding of God’s perspective. Take advantage of every opportunity to praise Him! It is a great day to be alive! Ask the Lord to reveal Himself to members of the judiciary who need a solid dose of joy that can only be found in Jesus.

    and have become my salvation.
22 The stone that the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone.

    it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day that the Lord has made;
    let us rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save us, we pray, O Lord!
    O Lord, we pray, give us success!

26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
    We bless you from the house of the Lord.
27 The Lord is God,
    and he has made his light to shine upon us.
Bind the festal sacrifice with cords,
    up to the horns of the altar!

28 You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;
    you are my God; I will extol you.

    for his steadfast love endures forever!
