President Picks General for Defense Intelligence Director

Lieutenant General Scott Berrier is now deputy chief of staff for Army intelligence.

The deputy chief of staff for Army intelligence, Lieutenant General Scott Berrier, has been tapped by President Trump to be the military’s next “top spy.”

The DIA is tasked with providing strategic-level information to soldiers, logisticians, acquisition officials and Defense Department decision-makers.

If confirmed by the Senate, Berrier would replace Army Lieutenant General Robert Ashley, who is expected to retire after a traditional three-year term as director, ensuring that the DIA would have back-to-back Army chiefs, something that hasn’t occurred in six years. It is not yet clear when the Senate would take up the nomination, as very few legislative days remain before the planned August recess.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Lieutenant General Scott Berrier when he faces the Senate for confirmation.
  • About current delays in the Senate relative to military appointments.
