This week, the House Oversight Committee’s Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs, chaired by Representative Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin, held a hearing entitled “Intruder Alert: Assessing the CCP’s Ongoing Infiltration of U.S. Military Installations.” Officials from the Defense Intelligence Agency and the FBI testified before the subcommittee.
“When you’re talking about the number of Chinese coming across the southern border,” Congressman Grothman stated. “When it goes up by a factor of 80 in one year, you’ve got to wonder what’s going on here.”
“It’s of particular concern because it’s so easy now to get in here,” said Representative Grothman. “I mean, in essence, the United States has an open border. There’s no time more tempting for foreign countries to come in here and say, ‘let’s poke around and get information on American military bases.”’
Approximately 100 times in 2023, Chinese individuals attempted to enter U.S. military bases. A Chinese national was apprehended after gaining access to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California. Other members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) have been caught scuba diving near Cape Canaveral in Florida.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Representative Grothman and members of the Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs to receive God’s wisdom as they investigate Chinese surveillance.
- For Defense Department and FBI officials as they seek to maintain security at U.S. military installations.
- For the president and his defense advisors as they consider actions that will protect national security.
