Today, the justices of the Supreme Court are holding a non-argument session conference day.
The justices are anticipated to consider whether they will accept 2nd Amendment challenges to bans on “assault weapons” by Maryland and Illinois.
They may also consider a second case regarding the right to bear arms in which New York City bases gun approvals on the “good moral character” of the applicant. The statute had been ruled unconstitutional in district court, but the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals allowed the standard to remain in effect.
