Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The Federal Communications Commission has reinstated net neutrality rules, reassuming regulatory oversight of broadband internet. The rules, which were rescinded under President Trump’s administration, were initially adopted in 2015. Supporters of the increased federal authority say it allows the FCC to hold internet providers accountable.
Pray for FCC Chair Rosenworcel and federal communications officials to apply the expanded authority prudently.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and other leaders of the minority party have pledged to support House Speaker Mike Johnson in his presiding role in the lower chamber. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and others have proposed to vacate the speakership over the legislative compromises Speaker Johnson has made in recent months. The unusual support of the opposing party is motivated by a desire to maintain the stability of House proceedings.
Pray for the House speaker and party leaders to receive God’s direction as they proceed with House business.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, chaired by Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, is investigating the high prices Novo Nordisk is charging for its weight loss and diabetes drugs. Senator Sanders said prices need to “be lowered in order for consumers to get it, and for governments not to go bankrupt providing it.”
For members of congressional committees as they conduct hearings and investigations into consumer concerns.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Supreme Court declined to place a stay against a Texas law that requires adult content sites to verify the age of viewers. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton stated, “Children will continue to be protected from harmful content in Texas.“
For the Supreme Court justices to be discerning in their determinations, both in rulings and in opting to place injunctions and stays to lower courts’ decisions.
