Issue 631 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Elections

A federal judge ruled that Georgia’s Election Integrity Act does not harm black voters by its shorter period of voting in runoff elections. He found no evidence that the law’s provisions “intentionally discriminate against black voters in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment and the Fifteenth Amendment.”

Pray for state officials involved in efforts to secure the integrity of their elections.

Pray for America’s Military

The United States engaged in combined naval exercises with South Korea and Japan as a show of unified strength while North Korean leader Kim Jong Un escalated tensions by weapons testing. North Korea’s launch included a new solid-fuel, hypersonic missile capable of hitting American military bases in Guam and Japan.

Pray for U.S. military leaders and presidential advisors as the tensions rise in Asia between the U.S., its allies, and both North Korea and China.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

Ukraine has fortified its front lines with 621 miles of concrete trenches, adopting some of the trench design used by Russia for an “active defense.” This activity is part of their preparations for the anticipated Russian spring offensive.

Pray for U.S. legislators as they pursue further aid for Ukraine’s effort to defend itself as the advances from Russia continue.

Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov flatly rejected a proposal made by the U.S. to restart nuclear arms control talks. Minister Lavrov said the proposal was “unacceptable” in the wake of the United States’ continued support of Ukraine. He said, “We do not see the slightest interest on the part of either the United States or NATO to settle the Ukrainian conflict and listen to Russia’s concerns.”

Pray for the president and U.S. diplomats as they seek global security surrounding nuclear arms control agreements.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The American Cancer Society claims that new diagnoses of cancer in the United States may top 2 million for the first time this year, largely driven by an “alarming increase” in cancers among younger Americans. Such diagnoses often bring psychological, physical, and financial burdens that older patients generally face with better resources.

Pray for healing for cancer patients as they endure treatments for the disease. Pray for researchers seeking cures.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

President Biden’s administration has tried to make Israel accept a two-state solution and Palestinian independence. Prime Minister Netanyahu said, “This truth I tell to our American friends, and I put the brakes on the attempt to coerce me to a reality that would endanger the state of Israel.” He said Israel must have security control over all the territory west of the Jordan River. White House National Security Spokesman John Kirby said the U.S. sees things “differently.”

Pray for Israel’s leaders to seek wisdom from the Lord as they strive to protect themselves and their land.

Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY

Even though high mortgage rates remain, according to a Census Bureau report housing starts rose last month to 1.9 percent over November. New permits for residential construction were still 11.7 percent below the same time a year ago.

Pray for U.S. economic officials and advisors as they assess the economy that housing starts represent.

Pray for Goodness in America

A 17-year-old baseball phenomenon has signed a $1.7 million contract with the New York Yankees. He said the first thing he will do with his signing bonus is build a church in his native Dominican Republic, fulfilling a promise he made to his hometown.

Give thanks for young people who exhibit integrity and unselfish values.

Pray for Needs Across the States

A committee of the Illinois legislature is considering a bill for all mail-in voting for elections. The measure has been proposed even as other states have raised concerns regarding lost and undeliverable ballots, and questions of voting integrity.

Legislators in South Carolina introduced a bill that would prohibit colleges and universities from “establishing or maintaining an office or division or other unit by any name whose purpose is in whole or in part, the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).“

Pray for state legislators as they consider bills that address controversial issues.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“ A social engineering operation has been carried out to manipulate consensus through terror, threats, blackmail, and the violation of citizens’ most sacrosanct fundamental rights. … It is necessary for all of us to understand that this all-out war against humanity is not motivated only by the lust for wealth and power, but mainly by a religious motive – a theological reason. This reason is Satan’s hatred: hatred of God, hatred of God’s Creation, and hatred of man, who is created in the Image and Likeness of God. … They hate life, which only God can give. They hate love, which comes only from God. They hate peace, which can reign only where Christ reigns. … This, then, is a battle in which body and soul, matter, and spirit are made the object of a mortal attack by men and spiritual powers. … I therefore exhort you, dear friends, to fight this battle with the spiritual weapons that God places at your disposal: prayer, trust in the Lord.“ – Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano (retired Apostolic Nuncio to the United States), January 2024
