Customs and Border Protection agents say more than 300,000 migrants entered the nation in December.
House Speaker Mike Johnson and 60 other legislators are scheduled to visit the southern border at Eagle Pass, Texas, on Wednesday.
Speaker Johnson previously wrote a letter to President Biden, saying, “We are now more vulnerable to a terrorist attack on our homeland than ever.” He noted that ending the policies that had protected the border has undermined the sovereignty and security of America.
Customs and Border Patrol has posted record levels of encounters at the southern border. Agents say they encountered more than 300,000 migrants during December, which equals the population of Cincinnati, Ohio. Those numbers do not include the so-called “got-aways.” Migrants are coming from across the globe, not just Central and South America. Agents are seeing migrants from places such as China, India, Turkey, Ukraine, Senegal, Cuba, and Haiti.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Speaker Johnson and the legislators as they assess the situation at the U.S. border with Mexico and seek solutions.
- For Customs and Border Protection officers as they process thousands of migrants crossing the border.
- For Border Patrol agents as they seek to do their jobs in the face of overwhelming numbers of migrants.
