Security heightened on the island.
President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden arrived in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, on Wednesday for a vacation over the New Year. They spent Christmas with family at Camp David, making a brief return to the White House before flying to the Caribbean aboard Air Force One.
It has become a tradition for them to enjoy the warm sunny beaches at St. Croix.
They are expected to return to Washington the middle of next week.
