U.S. Air Force Pilot Dies in North Sea Crash

Crash happened during a training mission off the coast of England.

The Defense Department announced on Monday that a member of the 48th Fighter Wing who piloted an F-15C Eagle that crashed off the coast of Northern England had been confirmed dead. The pilot crashed at 9:40 am local time, with the cause of the crash not yet confirmed. Currently, next of kin are being notified before the name of the pilot is released to the public.

A statement from the Air Force called the incident a “tragic loss.” The flight originated from the UK’s Lakenheath Air Force base, which hosts over 4,500 active-duty American service members. The wreckage was located by the British coast guard. The 48th Fighter Wing recently has contributed to anti-terror operations in the Middle East.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God to be near to the family of the deceased pilot.
  • For the Air Force to be able to determine the cause of the crash.
  • That God would lead the Defense Department to continue to improve the safety of its service members.
