Officials recommend continued social distancing and good hygiene as states reopen.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released updated safety guidelines on Friday in which it continued to encourage social distancing and advised against large gatherings. CDC Director Robert Redfield encouraged Americans to regularly wash their hands, wear masks, and practice good social distancing. “I know that people are eager to return to normal activities and ways of life; however, it’s important that we remember that the situation is unprecedented and that the pandemic has not ended,” he added.
CDC Deputy Director added that the guidelines apply, not to just large gatherings, but should be considered before doing any activities, “The guidelines are really for any type of gatherings, whether it’s the backyard barbecue or something larger. And it’s not intended to endorse any particular type of event but to be able to be applicable to any type of event that may occur.”
While some states have seen a flattened curve and a drop in cases, other states have seen significate increases in new cases. Because of this, the CDC is reviewing its guidelines on a day-by-day basis
The guidelines also encourage Americans to avoid contact with others at gyms, bars, restaurants, and stores and to use cashless or touchless payment methods when possible.

- For the president and CDC leaders as they work together on balancing economic recovery with flattening the curve.
- For healing and recovery for all who are ill due to the outbreak, whether directly from COVID-19 or indirectly due to social and economic changes.
