I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. – Job 42:2
Newly elected President Dwight Eisenhower traveled to Korea on this day in 1952. His purpose was to find a way to end the Korean War and, when he returned to the United States, he enacted a policy to use any force necessary to end the war. Peace negotiations were advanced and an armistice was signed the next year. While President Eisenhower’s purpose was to end the war, and he succeeded, human beings do not always have the capability of accomplishing what they propose. In today’s verse, Job acknowledges that God’s plans can not be hindered or stopped. You may wonder, as you go about daily life, what the Lord’s purposes are and what He has called you to do. Praying for knowledge of His will and the strength to accomplish it are methods to ensure that your heart and mind are yielded and in alignment with His goals. Ask God how you can better shine His light of truth in your sphere today.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For U.S. diplomats as they seek to accomplish peace in conflicts around the world.
- For the president and members of his administration to look to the Lord for wisdom regarding alliances they forge.
