November 26th – Sunday

Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46:10

Activists and advocates have played an important role in U.S. history. On this day in 1881, Sojourner Truth, one of the greatest activists of her time, passed away. She was a black woman born into slavery as “Isabella” in 1797. After escaping in 1826, she gave herself the name Sojourner Truth to fit her mission as a Christian minister and speaker. She toured throughout the United States, giving fiery and compelling speeches about women’s rights and freedom for slaves, the most famous of which is titled “Ain’t I A Woman.” During the Civil War, she organized the delivery of supplies for black volunteer troops in the Union and, after the war ended, she met with President Abraham Lincoln and helped former slaves transition to free lives. As you pray for this nation today, praise the Lord for making provision for humanity to be freed from the bondage of sin!

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For God to be glorified through the actions and decisions made by U.S. governing officials.
  • For American citizens and those in positions of authority to recognize the Lord as the ultimate Ruler.
