Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the expansion of a natural gas pipeline in the Pacific Northwest, even though state officials and environmentalists from Washington and Oregon had objected. The commission is tasked with the permitting of pipelines.
Pray for wisdom for the leaders of various agencies of the government who make decisions affecting multiple states.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee said that President Biden’s proposed $100 million humanitarian aid package for Gaza will not make it to the people who need help. She said, “We know that even in the last week, as medical supplies, food, fuel has gone into Gaza that it has been intercepted by Hamas and they are using it for the troops.”
Pray for members of the House and Senate as they look into the many issues of the Israeli-Palestinian war.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Oversight and Accountability Committee will conduct a probe into whether American weapons that were left behind in Afghanistan, or weapons that have been delivered to Ukraine, have found their way into the hands of Hamas and other Iranian-backed terrorists. An intelligence briefing has suggested that may have happened.
Pray for the chairs and members of committees as they conduct investigations into government actions and their results.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
A federal district court judge blocked the California assault weapons ban, ruling that the law is “extreme” and has “no historical pedigree.” The judge wrote that the tradition in America “is rich and deep in protecting a citizen’s enduring right to keep and bear common arms like rifles, shotguns, and pistols.” He stated that this does not include restrictions on firearms based on “looks or attributes.”
Pray for the judges of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals as they are likely to hear an appeal of the judge’s decision.
