Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. – Proverbs 4:25
On this date in 1936, the Hoover Dam began generating electricity, providing power to Los Angeles and the surrounding area. The dam was constructed amid the Great Depression as a project undertaken by President Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal. At least 100 workers lost their lives during construction. Hoover Dam holds back Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the country by volume. The construction of this dam was an unlikely way for the federal government to utilize its power to try to help the country recover from the difficulties of the Great Depression. As you pray today, remember that, in the midst of challenges, you can remain hopeful in God and His promises. Keep your faith in the Lord, give Him thanks and praise as you focus on what He has called you to do.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For the president and administration officials as they plan and implement programs and establish initiatives.
- For the nation’s economic advisors to seek God’s guidance as they provide recommendations to the Executive and Legislative branches.
