Agricultural officials seek to increase food trade between countries.
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small will be leading America’s first-ever agribusiness trade mission to Luanda, Angola, from November 28 to December 1.
Angola was the sixth largest exporter of poultry in the world in 2022 and spent nearly $236.8 million on U.S. food and agriculture exports that same year. The USDA is now accepting applications from U.S. agriculture business owners to attend this trade mission with Deputy Secretary Torres Small, allowing them to make business-to-business deals with Angolan business owners in person.
“When it comes to trade opportunity, Sub-Saharan Africa is both promising and often overlooked,” said Deputy Secretary Torres Small. “Angola is one of the largest markets in Africa, and with imports making up more than half of its food market, Angola is a perfect location for U.S. exporters to introduce more American-made products to African consumers.”
