Keep On Keeping On

Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments.     Psalm 119:66

As you watch the news or peruse social media you may wonder if common sense has become a thing of the past. You see the rise of perversion, violence, and the silencing or punishing of people of faith. A lack of belief in God’s commandments is a key factor. The rejection of God’s word and commandments opens a nation to accept just about anything.

What is a Christ follower supposed to do in a world gone haywire? Keep on keeping on. Keep on believing. Keep on praying. Keep on pursuing God. Keep on loving Him and loving others. Keep on overcoming evil with good. Keep on standing for the truth. Keep on praising God. Keep on serving Him and others. Keep on in the faith. Paul writes, “Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ” (Philippians 1:27). Even if the world has gone crazy, it doesn’t mean you have to! The light shines brightest in the darkness. “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

As godly principles are challenged daily, pray for the Lord’s mercy upon the United States. Pray that God would woo hearts to receive His salvation and that the people of this nation would respond with repentance and follow Him. Pray that citizens and officials throughout America’s rural lands, small towns, and large cities, and especially Washington D.C., would obtain and use good judgment. Pray that believers in Christ will be beacons in the darkness through love and good works.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
