Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
Vice President Kamala Harris announced a $125 million federal investment to help small businesses in underserved communities. “As Bidenomics continues to demonstrate, when we invest in the dreams, the ambitions of small business owners and entrepreneurs, it creates opportunity and prosperity for us all,” she said.
Pray for Vice President Harris as she fulfills her role in the president’s administration.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator James Lankford and Representative Josh Brecheen, both of Oklahoma, have sent a request to the Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services asking for an investigation into the $20 million Planned Parenthood received from the Provider Relief Fund of the COVID-19 CARES Act. They said the organization may have provided false or misleading information to gain access to the funding.
Pray for members of Congress who are officially on recess until after Labor Day.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin is urging the chairmen of the Senate Judiciary, Homeland Security and Government Affairs and Foreign Relations Committees to “conduct much-needed oversight of this administration’s border policies to find immediate solutions to combat one of the most disturbing consequences of inadequate border security: the proliferation of human trafficking.” He said he and other senators have been motivated by the “Sound of Freedom” film.
Pray for members of Congress as they investigate the scourge of human trafficking.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a preliminary injunction that allows transgender students in Indiana access to locker rooms and bathrooms consistent with the gender identity they claim. The matter may be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Pray for federal judges as they rule on minority versus majority goals in matters of civil rights across the country.
