He finds DOJ and FBI failed to uphold the law in the probe of President Trump regarding Russia.
Special Counsel John Durham released his 306-page report on his years-long investigation into what the FBI called “Crossfire Hurricane.” The investigation considered whether the campaign of Donald Trump coordinated with Russia to influence the 2016 presidential election.
Durham reported, “Based on the review of Crossfire Hurricane and related intelligence activities, we conclude that the Department [of Justice] and the FBI failed to uphold their mission of strict fidelity to the law in connection with certain events and activities described in the report.”
The investigations also showed “senior FBI personnel displayed a serious lack of analytical rigor towards the information that they received, especially information received from politically-affiliated persons and entities.”
Durham also stated, “There was significant reliance on investigative leads provided or funded (directly or indirectly) by Trump’s political opponents.” He reported that “the Department did not adequately examine or question these materials and the motivations of those providing them.” The report also stated that the Steele Dossier, that led to the investigation, was deeply flawed.
The report was delivered to Congress after it had been delivered to Attorney Merrick Garland.
