Pray for our Military
General Mark Milley’s four-year term as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will end soon. It is anticipated that President Biden will recommend Air Force General Charles Q. Brown, Jr., for that position. General Brown is currently chief of staff of the Air Force.
Pray for the leadership at the highest levels of the United States military to fulfill their roles with integrity.
PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE
Russia has launched mass attacks across Ukraine with wave upon wave of drone strikes, escalating their actions in a run-up to Russia’s May 9 Victory Day holiday that celebrates the defeat of Nazi Germany. Sixty Iranian-made kamikaze drones had targeted Ukrainian civilian areas including a food warehouse; 36 were shot down.
Pray for U.S. and allied officials as they continue to send aid to Ukraine to help in their fight against Russia.
Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS
At an international gathering in Budapest, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said, “The woke movement and gender ideology are exactly what Communism and Marxism used to be. They artificially cut the nation into minorities in order to spark strife among the groups.” He added, “Hungary is the place where we didn’t just talk about defeating the progressives and liberals and causing a conservative Christian political turn, but we actually did it.”
Pray for U.S. ambassadors and diplomats as they hold discussions with their foreign counterparts.
Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Eli Lily and Co. has developed an experimental drug that is showing that cognitive decline due to Alzheimer’s was slowed by 35 percent in a closely watched late-stage trial. Their results increase hope for effective treatment for the disease.
Pray for American families who are struggling with the dementia, cognitive decline, or Alzheimer’s disease of a loved one.
Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL
A bipartisan group of U.S. legislators met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and were told that the U.S. needs to be as concerned as Israel about Iran’s advancing nuclear program. Prime Minister Netanyahu said, “Iran is 50 North Koreas. It is not merely a neighborhood bully like the dynasty that rules North Korea. This is an ideological force that views us, Israel, as the small Satan, and views you as the Great Satan.”
Pray for Israel’s leadership as they stand against the threats of Iran.
Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY
The first quarter of this year showed labor productivity fall while labor costs rose. Early reports for May are showing the manufacturing sector output and hours worked grew slightly.
Pray for U.S. labor officials as they assess the status of the many sectors of the American economy.
Pray for Goodness in America
Nonprofit grocery stores have been popping up across the U.S. to offset higher prices for food and help with a “safety net” in some communities at risk of food insecurity. “Hunger in the U.S. is so much more common than we think. Food deserts and food apartheid play a major role in that. … Nonprofit grocery stores are oftentimes a part of the heartbeat of the community,” one policy analyst who specializes in SNAP, anti-poverty, and racial equity said.
Pray for those who run nonprofit, faith-based groups who are working to overcome physical hunger to help people satisfy their spiritual hunger as well.
Pray for Needs Across the States
The Delaware Senate passed a bill that requires anyone wanting to purchase a handgun in their state to first be fingerprinted, undergo training, and get permission from the state for the purchase.
Florida senators passed an education bill that gives parents more rights to information on curricula. The measure also implements guidance on how teachers and students can use their pronouns in school and bans school lessons about sexual identity and gender orientation.
Pray for state legislators as they seek to govern according to the desires of their constituents.
