Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen recently spoke at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, where she promoted “cooperation on the urgent global challenges of our day.” She called for a “healthy economic relationship with China: one that fosters growth and innovation in both countries.”
Pray for the president and administration officials as they sort out priorities in handling tensions with China.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senators were briefed by White House intelligence officials on the leak of classified Pentagon documents. The legislators said they were “stumped” by the lack of security for such documents bearing top secret indicators and that the briefing was not well run by senior administration officials. “I’m just as confused now as I was before the briefing,” said Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
Pray for legislators in both the Senate and House as they deal with matters of national security.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
During a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Tom Cotton questioned Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco over the implementation of a two-tiered justice system that appears to prosecute political opponents while overlooking others. He pointed out the lack of action taken regarding rioters who attack law enforcement officers and destroy property.
Pray for members of legislative committees as they hold hearings and draft bills to deal with matters discovered during their investigations.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Supreme Court rejected the appeals from Exxon and other energy companies to take state and local government lawsuits over climate-change spending out of smaller courts and into federal courts. A number of states have sued large energy companies seeking climate-related damages.
Pray for the Supreme Court justices as they decide which appeals to hear and which to refer back to lower or state courts.
