Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The U.S. banking system is “sound,” Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in testimony before the Senate Finance Committee. “I can reassure the members of the committee that our banking system is sound and that Americans can feel confident that their deposits will be there when they need them,” she said.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg acknowledged that there have been “more mistakes than usual” in recent air travel. He pressed the air travel sector to help address the dozens of close calls that have occurred so far this year while saying, “U.S. aviation remains an exceptionally safe mode of travel.”
Pray for administration officials as they provide reassurances to the American people regarding concerns in major industries.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Responding to recent banking failures, Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts is calling for a reexamination of the $250,000 cap on deposit insurance offered by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation for each depositor if a bank fails. She said increasing the cap could help some small businesses and some nonprofits manage their money.
Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas, an obstetrician, said he believes the COVID-19 virus emanated from a Wuhan laboratory. He stated the emergency and genetic characteristics of the virus do not seem to be like those of a naturally-evolving animal-to-human virus. His analysis is beginning to gain wider acceptance, including with the FBI, the Energy Department, and several congressional committees.
Pray for members of the Senate who have been operating with less than a full body in the absence of senators who are convalescing.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals has rejected the appeal of a New Yorker who was fired for refusing to attend a mandatory LGBTQ training session.
A U.S. District Judge temporarily blocked the implementation of new water rules issued by the administration while the legal case against the rules plays out. He issued the preliminary injunction because of a “substantial likelihood” that the ultimate case against the rule would succeed over which waters get federal protections and which do not.
Pray for judges and justices to be impartial and even-handed as they hear and decide cases.
